Involvement in AHRD Settings
Our program is both academic and experiential. To assist you in your professional growth, we encourage participation in meetings of organizations such as the American Society for Training and Development and the Society for Human Resource Management.
We also encourage you to pursue an internship, particularly if you have not worked in the field. Some local organizations with whom students have had internships include: Banta, Coors, Merck & Co. Inc., Rockingham Memorial Hospital, R R Donnelley and Sons Company, Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Community, Shickel Corporation, Sodexho Marriott, and Target. Still others have worked in institutions of higher education.
Through our classroom and work-based programs you will:
- Learn to provide training and performance interventions that are both effective and innovative.
- Build links with education, government, and professional organizations.
- Make quality-of-work-life issues a business priority.
- Incorporate shared decision making and participative management strategies
